Oxygen Deficiency
Monitors

Oxygen depletion or asphyxiation should be taken very seriously in industries that use pressurized gas cylinders or cryogenically liquefied gases stored in dewers. These containers are often stored in a dedicated room or chained-up at an employee’s workspace. If a leak occurs from any one of these storage vessels, it can quickly and unknowingly displace the level of oxygen in the area, immediately creating an unsafe and dangerous situation for all personnel in the vicinity. Room oxygen deficiency monitors were developed to help keep people safe, while they work in these types of areas.

But not all monitors can provide the same level of protection. As opposed to competitive products that use electrochemical sensors for monitoring oxygen deficiency, AMI engineered our Model 221R to employ a zirconium oxide sensor. Using this sensor allows the Model 221R to operate unfazed even when exposed to temperature changes or a downscale drift. In fact, it has proven itself immune to drifting when placed in a setting where huge temperature shifts can take place. The unit will perform with zero drifting even if the shift in the temperature range is as wide as 0°F to 130°F or occurs very rapidly. The zirconium oxide sensor also has the added benefit of a 10-year life, eliminating the need to replace sensors every 6 months.

This level of reliable performance eliminates the dreaded experience of having to deal with false alarms – a common occurrence with competitive designs that use electrochemical sensors. Electrochemical sensors are prone to false alarms because of their inherent temperature and pressure sensitivities. Normal occurrences such as a weather pattern change or even the air conditioning system cycling off/on can trigger a false alarm. These sensors also have a short product life and require monthly calibration to continue operating accurately.

The Model 221R further separates itself from the competition because it comes equipped with our state-of-the-art Command Center Electronics Platform™. This innovative breakthrough provides users with many desirable features, including data logging, calibration history and 2 OSHA-alarm set points (one preset at 20.0% for ‘caution’ and the other preset with audible alarm at 19.5% for ‘danger’). The Command Center Electronics Platform™ allows customers to do more with their AMI units. For example, accessing the platform on the Model 221R lets customers set 2 separate relay contacts as well as the settings on the shared alarm to enable detection of enriched oxygen conditions (observed when oxygen levels reach 23.5%). Our entire electronics platform comes standard at no additional cost, an incredible and compelling value for any customer.

Our monitors are the ideal solution for any company, laboratory or university, looking to protect their personnel from the risk of oxygen depletion or asphyxiation. So give us a call today and have peace of mind that your employees are being protected by the best oxygen deficiency monitor on the market.
